In 2009, we opened our first mattress store in Joplin, Missouri under the name Joplimo Mattress. From the beginning, we wanted to be more than another retailer selling the same products customers could find everywhere else.
We understood how mattresses were actually built, what made one perform better than another, how better materials could create better value, and how a properly constructed mattress could last far longer than much of the industry wanted consumers to believe.
At the time, mattress shopping was becoming unnecessarily confusing. Common materials were being given proprietary-sounding names. Product specifications were becoming harder to compare. Warranty periods were getting shorter. Consumers were increasingly being told that replacing a mattress every five to seven years was simply normal.
We believed there was a better way.
Mattress technology and materials were already capable of producing beds that could provide exceptional comfort and support for decades when they were designed and built correctly. So instead of adding to the confusion, we chose transparency.
We wanted customers to know what was inside their mattress, why it was there, what it should do, and what they were actually paying for.
That philosophy would eventually change everything about our company.
